The family cruise market is the fastest-growing at sea and Carnival Cruise Lines – the global leader in family cruising – is expected to host more than 700,000 children in 2014, the most in the company’s 42-year history.

Carnival continues to expand and upgrade its popular kid-friendly offerings, launching the totally renovated Carnival Sunshine this spring designed with all-ages appeal, as well as introducing a variety of new activities that embody the line’s motto of “Fun for All, All for Fun” and part of the line’s ongoing Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative.

Here’s a look at some of the many family-friendly innovations available on the “Fun Ships”:

Exhilarating Water Slides (fleetwide) – Heart-racing water slides are a signature element of the “Fun Ship” vacation experience and Carnival Sunshine’s WaterWorks    park offers even more splash-tastic features highlighted by a 334-foot-long Twister     slide – the longest in the fleet – as well as Speedway Splash, twin 235-foot-long racing- themed slides where guests’ times are displayed as they race toward the checkered flag.

SportSquare (Carnival Magic, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Sunshine) – Carnival’s         exhilarating top-deck amenities have been taken to new heights – literally – with  SportSquare, an expansive open-air recreation areas featuring a suspended ropes course with breathtaking views to the sea 150 feet below, along with a basketball/volleyball court, ping pong and foosball tables, outdoor fitness machines and more.

Thrill Theater (Carnival Breeze) – Guests feel as if they’re part of the movie at this        aptly named multi-dimensional theater experience where seats move back and forth, shift        from side to side and vibrate, while viewers are sprayed with water, bubbles and puffs of air as they don special glasses to watch such popular titles as Happy Feet, Polar Express and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Hasbro, The Game Show – Guests are the star of the show at the cruise industry’s only   live game show as they participate in larger-than-life adaptations of the company’s iconic and popular games, including Yahtzee Bowling, Simon Flash, Sorry Sliders, Operation and Connect 4 basketball.

Miniature Golf Courses (fleetwide) – Guests of all ages can hit the links in the fresh sea air at Carnival’s fleetwide miniature golf courses, which feature playful themes such as pirate ships and offer a fun outdoor diversion for the whole family. Carnival Breeze also offers a more elaborate 18-hole course with two levels of mini-golf fun.

Modern Facilities, Activities for Three Age Groups (fleetwide) – Kids will be    entertained morning-til-night with a full schedule of activities – all complimentary, of          course – catering to kids in three age groups: Camp Carnival (2-11), Circle “C” (12-14) and Club O2 (15-17). Each group has its own modern facilities, from spacious play areas with video walls and indoor climbing mazes for the younger set to high-tech teen lounges featuring their own DJ, dance floor, soda bar, and other places to “chill.”

Kid-Friendly Dining Options (fleetwide) – When it comes to dining, kids get the full      “Fun Ship” treatment with fleetwide 24-hour pizza and ice cream and poolside restaurants featuring hamburgers, hot dogs and other favorites, as well as children’s menus in all main dining rooms. A popular new option is Guy’s Burger Joint developed by Food Network personality Guy Fieri currently on four ships and serves 1,200 burgers per ship per day.  For those who want to satisfy their sweet tooth, there’s the new Cherry on Top, offering 80 kinds of confections, fanciful gifts, custom apparel and more.

Night Owls/babysitting (fleetwide) — When parents need some “we” time, there’s Night Owls, which complements the line’s nightly babysitting services and offers late-  night parties with fun-filled activities that run as late as 3 a.m., along with branded logo items, snacks and more.

Kids aren’t the only ones who have fun on the “Fun Ships,” of course.  Parents also enjoy a full schedule of entertainment – from the new high-tech Playlist Productions revues and hilarious late-night comedy shows at the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez to sing-a-longs in the line’s legendary piano bars which are being rebranded to offer even more spontaneous fun.

Parents can also test Lady Luck in Carnival’s fleetwide casinos, indulge in a soothing treatment in one of the line’s luxurious spas or check out Serenity, an adults-only retreat with colorful umbrellas, jumbo-sized whirlpools and comfortable chaise lounges and chairs.  A three-level version of this adults-only oasis featuring a waterfall, pool and full bar debuts on Carnival Sunshine this spring.

So when it comes to all-ages fun, the “Fun Ships” of Carnival continue to be the number one choice for today’s families.
