FIVE CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGERS RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE
New Orleans-based Lori Goynes Named ‘BDM of the Year”
MIAMI (February 23, 2007) – Carnival Cruise Lines has recognized five of its business development managers (BDMs) for providing superior service to travel agents during the past year, with Lori Goynes, the line’s BDM for Louisiana and Arkansas being named “BDM of the Year.”
Goynes, a 17-year veteran of the Carnival sales team and a business development director for nearly 10 years, was selected from nearly 80 Carnival BDMs who work with thousands of travel agents across the U.S. and Canada in developing new business opportunities.
Additionally, Tom Dougher, based in Columbia, Md., was named “Regional BDM of the Year” for the eastern region; San Marcos, Calif.-based Lori Goldspiel for the western region; St. Louis-based Ann Sedgwick for the central region; and Georgetown, Ontario-based Justin French for Canada. French was also named “Group Sales BDM of the Year” for his outstanding efforts in marketing and promoting group cruises to travel agents.
“All five of these hard-working and dedicated individuals are certainly deserving of these accolades and embody the dedication and professionalism of Carnival’s entire sales team,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.
Comprised of 77 BDMs across the U.S. and Canada, Carnival’s field sales force works closely with travel agents to help expand their client base and ultimately close more sales through intensive marketing initiatives, including innovative sales seminars, often in the agency’s place of business. Carnival’s BDMs also coordinate marketing promotions and co-operative adverting agreements with travel agents in their respective regions.
Carnival is the most popular cruise line in the world with 21 “Fun Ships” operating three- to 16-day voyages to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.
The line currently has four new ships on order – the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, slated to debut in Europe March 5; the 112,000-ton Carnival Splendor, scheduled to enter service in July 2008; and the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic – to be the largest “Fun Ships” ever constructed — scheduled for delivery in October 2009 and June 2011, respectively.
