Grand Turk Named ‘Most Unspoiled Caribbean Destination’ in Porthole Magazine’s Annual Readers Poll

The island of Grand Turk, of the Turks and Caicos Islands, has received Porthole Cruise Magazine’s 2008 Editor-In-Chief Award for the “Most Unspoiled Caribbean Destination.” The destination is also home to the Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC), a cruise facility operated by Carnival Corporation & plc.

“The Turks and Caicos Islands, and Grand Turk in particular, are fast becoming the destination of choice for those wishing to leave their cares behind and experience an amazing, unspoiled, natural Caribbean paradise,” said Giora Israel, vice president of strategic planning for Carnival Corporation & plc and president of the Grand Turk Cruise Center.

“There are so many wonderful destinations and engaging activities in the world that even I have trouble deciding where to go,” said Bill Panoff, Porthole Magazine’s editor-in-chief. “However, I can recommend my favorites this year because they unanimously offer experiences that are sure to please even the most discerning traveler,” he added.

Consisting of a state-of-the-art pier and a 13-acre complex that includes a beautiful beach and swimming pool, shops and the Caribbean’s largest “Margaritaville”-themed bar and restaurant, the expansive new Grand Turk Cruise Center facility serves as a gateway to Grand Turk, one of the Caribbean’s most unspoiled and beautiful islands.

“We certainly congratulate Grand Turk for receiving this prestigious award and the Grand Turk Cruise Center pledges to assist the people and government of the Turks and Caicos Islands to help keep Grand Turk an unspoiled and beautiful destination,” said Mike Reimers, general manager of the Grand Turk Cruise Center.
