The Carnival Pride recently welcomed a special guest -- Dr. Tammy Jernigan, famed astronaut who served as the ship’s godmother when she “officially” named the vessel in 2002 in Port Canaveral, Fla., near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Dr. Jernigan’s extensive and remarkable career as an astronaut included a record-setting 423-hour, 53-minute mission aboard the space shuttle Columbia, as well as a 253-hour, 13-minute mission aboard the Discovery during which the crew performed the first docking to the International Space Station.

During her seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise aboard the Carnival Pride, Jernigan was provided a special bridge tour by Captain Alessandro Galotto.
