Constancia Garaygay, a 10-year veteran of Carnival Cruise Lines, has been named chief security officer of the line’s 2,974-passenger Carnival Liberty, becoming the first female employee to hold this position within the company.

Prior to joining Carnival, Garaygay was a security professional for a major university in her native Philippines.

A member of the Professional Criminologist Association of the Philippines, Garaygay earned a master’s degree in criminology from the Philippines College of Criminology.  She has also completed Carnival’s security instruction certified by the line’s classification society, Lloyd’s Registry.  The training was presented in conjunction with numerous U.S. federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
