Shaun Mullin of Justin, Texas, the winner of the Carnival Magic’s Name the Mini Golf Course Contest, recently took some time to answer some questions about herself and why she decided to participate in the contest.
Q: How did you come up with the name?
A: I might say I was hungry that day because I was thinking of surf and turf and I wanted a steak. Turf is green and the ship is on surf, so I thought let’s go with ‘Turf on Surf!’ I like the play on words.
Q: How many times have you cruised with Carnival?
A: Once, with a group of teachers back in 2008. Needless to say I had a great time.
Q: Are you a golfer?
A: No, but I have played mini-golf before. It is still a fun memory from childhood.
Q: Did you play mini-golf on your cruise?
A: I really wanted to but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans as it was too windy to play during the cruise.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on a Carnival ship?
A: I like the fact that it’s all-inclusive. You don’t have to unpack and repack and unpack again. You have a wonderful room and the food is fabulous. The people take care of you with excellent service. And all of the passengers were extremely friendly, too. I went to one of the cabaret shows and it was cool. It’s the total package deal. It can’t be beat as far as I’m concerned. Everyone seems to make sure that you have a good time, and I certainly did!
Q: How did you hear about the contest?
A: I have y’all as a favorite on Facebook, of course!
Q: How does it feel to know that you’ve named a part of the new ship, and that will be there for a long time?
A: I can’t wait because I just noticed that the Carnival Magic is going to be out of Galveston. So I really would like to go up to the course and take a picture and play a round of golf. Congrats on your new ship.
