Lourdes M. Pineda-Garcia, a 12-year veteran of the cruise industry, has been named vice president and controller at Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator.  Pineda-Garcia has been the acting controller for Carnival Cruise Lines since mid-January.

In her new role, Pineda-Garcia is responsible for directing the activities of a number of the company’s financial and accounting functions including general ledger, fixed assets, financial reporting and disbursements.

“Lourdes’ extensive experience in both accounting operations and financial management make her a welcome addition and valued member of the Carnival team,” said Anne Bramman, Carnival Cruise Lines’ senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Prior to joining Carnival, Pineda-Garcia served as chief financial officer for Seabourn and also worked in a variety of accounting capacities for Cunard, including operations controller. Both Seabourn and Cunard are sister companies to Carnival Cruise Lines and all are part of the Carnival Corporation portfolio of cruise brands.

A certified public accountant, Pineda-Garcia began her financial career with Coopers & Lybrand LLP, an international accounting firm.

Pineda-Garcia earned both her bachelor and master of accounting degrees from Florida International University.  She is a resident of Davie, Florida.
