While en route to Messina, Sicily early yesterday morning, Carnival Magic came to the rescue of a disabled motor yacht with two individuals on board. The vessel had lost propulsion and was adrift in heavy seas and strong winds in the Mediterranean Sea.

When the Carnival Magic arrived at the yacht’s location, the ship’s captain maneuvered the cruise ship to protect the smaller vessel against the heavy winds and swells while awaiting the arrival of a Spanish Coast Guard cutter.

After several hours, the cutter arrived and connected a tow line to the yacht then headed to Mallorca where they arrived safely later that morning.

The Carnival Magic is currently on a seven-day Mediterranean cruise that departed Barcelona on Sunday, July 17.
