     At a press conference in New York earlier this month, Carnival Cruise Lines unveiled an exciting new entertainment concept called “Playlist Productions” —  a dramatic retooling of the line’s legendary revues that combine captivating live performances with high-tech LED staging and special effects that set a new standard in seagoing productions.   Developed by top talent in the entertainment industry, Playlist Productions are music-driven revues featuring a diversity of musical styles, genres and eras and are designed to appeal to a broad cross-section of guests.          Part of the Fun Ship 2.0 initiative, Playlist Productions will debut on the Carnival Breeze when it enters service in June 2012 and will be rolled out to other ships in the fleet…

TORRES DE NAVARRA APPOINTED VICE PRESIDENT, COMMERCIAL PORT OPERATIONS FOR CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES;   LONGTIME CARNIVAL VETERANS TRINGALE AND BUCK ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT Carnival Cruise Lines today announced the appointment of Carlos Torres de Navarra to the newly-created position of vice president, commercial port operations.  In this capacity, he will oversee homeport and port-of-call operations for the cruise line’s 23-ship fleet, as well as port-related strategic planning, agreements and relationships.

Carnival Cruise Lines today announced the appointment of Carlos Torres de Navarra to the newly-created position of vice president, commercial port operations.  In this capacity, he will oversee homeport and port-of-call operations for the cruise line’s 23-ship fleet, as well as port-related strategic planning, agreements and relationships. The new position and a subsequent reorganization of the port operations and nautical operations functions currently overseen by Captain Domenico Tringale, vice president of port operations, have resulted following the announced retirement plans of Captain Tringale.  Also retiring is Gordon Buck, vice president of Caribbean relations.  Tringale will retire in spring 2012 following a maritime career spanning more than 50 years, including 11 years with Carnival Cruise Lines.  Buck will retire in early…

Carnival Liberty Returns to Service Following Extensive Fun Ship 2.0 Enhancements

     Carnival Liberty – the first ship to undergo the initial phase of Carnival Cruise Lines’ ambitious $500 million Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement initiative – re-entered service this weekend following an extensive two-week dry dock that added a host of new dining, bar and entertainment choices. Fun Ship 2.0 is a multi-year effort designed to dramatically transform the Carnival vacation experience through innovative partnerships and new branded spaces.  The first phase extends through the end of 2015 with 16 ships scheduled to receive the various Fun Ship 2.0 enhancements. New features on the Carnival Liberty include: Guy’s Burger Joint, a new free casual dining venue developed in partnership with Food Network personality and restaurateur Guy Fieri offering delicious hand-crafted burgers…

  To commemorate the inaugural call of the Carnival Glory in Bermuda, a special shipboard reception was held in King’s Wharf and attended by local officials and the ship’s officers. The ceremony included a traditional maritime plaque exchange with Bermuda’s Minister of Transport Terry Lister (left) and Carnival Glory Captain Giuseppe Giusa as pictured here. Carnival Glory’s Bermuda call was part of the ship’s summer schedule from New York that also included four-, five- and seven-day cruises to Canada and New England. The ship will reposition to Miami for a winter schedule of seven-day Caribbean voyages beginning Nov. 7.

At a press conference in New York held earlier this month, Carnival Cruise Lines announced that under license from Hasbro, Inc., [NASDAQ;HAS] it will create Hasbro, The Game Show, a new series of larger-than-life productions and entertainment activities based on the popular Family Game Night television show from The Hub. Thomas Hogan, a highly accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, has been named vice president of finance – shipboard operations for Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator. As vice president of finance – shipboard operations, Hogan is responsible for accounting functions, financial and operational analysis, shipboard payroll, and financial technology for Carnival’s 23-ship fleet.  He reports to Anne Bramman, Carnival’s senior vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Carnival, Hogan served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Talisker Mountain, Inc., which operates multiple business units including hotels, ski resorts and golf courses, as well as restaurants, retail outlets and real estate holdings.   He also spent 10 years at Marriott…

Adrian Fischer, a 28-year veteran of the entertainment industry whose career includes extensive experience in theme parks, performance art, music and theatre  — has been named vice president – entertainment for Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator.
