  Carnival Cruise Lines has earned five Porthole Cruise Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards, earning top honors in the Best Value for the Money category for the 13th consecutive year.  Since the awards were established in 1999, Carnival Cruise Lines has earned 120 individual honors – the most of any cruise operator.   The annual awards are based on on-line and mail-in surveys of Porthole readers who are asked to rate their favorite cruise line in a variety of product- and service-related categories.  Carnival’s 2011 Porthole Readers Choice Awards include: Best Value-for-the-Money Line Best Caribbean Itineraries Best Mexican Riviera Itineraries Best Theme Cruises Best Web Site

     To celebrate the launch of year-round cruising on the 2,052-passenger Carnival Elation and 2,974–passenger Carnival Conquest from New Orleans, a special VIP ceremony was held on Monday aboard the Carnival Elation at the Port of New Orleans. During the reception plaque exchanges occurred between Carnival Elation’s Captain Salvatore Messina, and various local officials. Following the exchange, Carnival made a $25,000 donation to Reconcile New Orleans, which operate Café Reconcile as part of a job-training program that prepares adolescents for hospitality industry careers through training and work experience. This past Sunday, the Port of Galveston welcomed the 130,000-Carnival Magic to its new year-round homeport with a traditional maritime plaque exchange, and a little oversized Texas fun. The ship’s arrival was commemorated with a special reception on board attended by dozens of dignitaries, VIPs and media. During the presentation, Galveston Port Director Steve Cernak (pictured at left) presented Carnival Magic Captain Giovanni Cutugno with a traditional cowboy hat. The Carnival Magic departed yesterday on its inaugural cruise from Galveston. The ship will operate year-round seven-day western Caribbean and Bahamas/Florida cruises.

Carnival Magic Makes its First U.S. Appearance; Debuts with Exclusive Maroon 5 Concert

      Today, Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest ship, the 3,690-passenger Carnival Magic, arrived at its year-round homeport of Galveston, Texas, after completing its transatlantic voyage. An expected crowd of more than 4,000 will celebrate the ship’s U.S. debut with a concert by three-time GRAMMY Award-winning band Maroon 5, internationally known for hits like “Moves Like Jagger,” “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Wake Up Call” and “Makes Me Wonder.”  The chart-topping group, nominated for the 2011 American Music Awards’ “Favorite Pop/Rock Band,” will perform an hour-long concert set to the backdrop of the stunning new vessel from Pier 21. “Today marks a big day for Carnival Cruise Lines as we introduce the spectacular new Carnival Magic to its U.S. homeport of Galveston, Texas,”…

Allen Named Vice President – Beverage Operations For Carnival Cruise Lines

ALLEN NAMED VICE PRESIDENT – BEVERAGE OPERATIONS FOR CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES Edward Allen, a highly accomplished beverage industry professional with experience in top restaurants, bars and nightclubs in Las Vegas and New York, has been named vice president – beverage operations for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator. In this capacity, Allen will oversee the operation of all bars, lounges and nightclubs across Carnival’s 23-ship fleet, including overall management, training, staffing and beverage menu development. Allen will start November 14, reporting to Gus Antorcha, Carnival’s senior vice president of guest commerce.    Fla. Governor Rick Scott is pictured with Carnival Cruise Lines’ disc jockey Ro Parrish aboard the Carnival Imagination during a turnaround day at the Port of Miami.  In addition to spinning the latest hits, Governor Scott took time out of his schedule to participate in a line dance with Carnival Imagination guests and Carnival employees. The governor was at the Port of Miami to spend the day working in various occupations within the cruise and cargo industries as part of his jobs promotion program for Florida. Carnival Imagination operates year-round three- and four-day cruises from Miami.
