Continuing its support of its primary charitable partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Carnival Cruise Lines’ shoreside employees recently raised $2,300 for the hospital through a “Beary Cuddly Workshop” activity held at the cruise line’s corporate offices. Employees had an opportunity to purchase their own keepsake bear and build it on site at the company’s Miami headquarters.  The bears could also be customized with doctor’s apparel, including scrubs, surgical mask, and a lab coat to demonstrate support for St. Jude.  Carnival employees purchased more than 100 bears and doctor’s outfits, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude’s groundbreaking efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases The bear sale at the Miami headquarters mirrors a program taking place…

Children of Carnival Cruise Lines’ employees had a chance to learn more about what their moms and dads do for a living when they participated in the annual “Take Your Child to Work Day.”  Now in its 20th year, the national event is designed to provide youngsters ages 8-17 with a first-hand look at the business world. The children spent the entire workday at Carnival’s Miami headquarters, observing their parents as they carried out their day-to-day job responsibilities. From listening in on reservations calls to learning more about the cruise line’s sophisticated computer systems, the children gained valuable insight into Carnival’s operations and were exposed to a wide range of career choices.

With Carnival’s first extended cruise program from Boston starting up in just six weeks, the line and Crusieport Boston announced that the Carnival Glory will return to the refurbished Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in 2013 to operate a series of cruises to Atlantic Canada next summer. When Carnival Glory arrives in Boston next year, it will do so with some new dining, bar and entertainment options, including Guy’s Burger Joint, EA SPORTS bar and Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez. Carnival Cruise Lines and its employees marked Earth Day with a variety of events throughout the fleet as well as in Miami, where the company’s headquarters are located. In a fun way to promote Earth Day to younger cruisers, a special poster contest was held in the shipboard Camp Carnival children’s program, offering children a chance to show their creativity while reinforcing the importance of protecting our natural resources. Carnival’s shoreside employees also acknowledged Earth Day by sponsoring the 30th annual Baynanza beach beautification event, which this year was held at Morningside Park, an oceanfront park in Northeast Miami.   Several dozen employees participated in the event, collecting dozens of bags of refuse and helping to return the park and the…

Dinkins Named Vice President of Corporate Human Resources for Carnival Cruise Lines

Tony D. Dinkins, a highly accomplished human resources professional with more than two decades of experience, has been named vice president of corporate human resources for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator. Dinkins will be responsible for overseeing the company’s shoreside talent management process including all hiring, evaluation, performance-driven compensation, and rewards and benefits strategies, as well as corporate training, for personnel at the company’s offices in Miami and Miramar, Fla., and Colorado Springs, Colo. Dinkins joins the company effective May 7, and will report to Carnival Cruise Lines’ Chief Financial Officer Anne Bramman. Prior to joining Carnival, Dinkins served as vice president of human resources consulting and services at Citrix Systems, Inc., a Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based…

An entertaining new video hosted by Carnival Breeze Senior Cruise Director John Heald showcases the construction of the towering nine-deck-high atrium of the new 130,000-ton vessel, which is set to debut from Europe June 3, 2012. Donning a hard hat and safety shoes, Heald walks viewers through the different areas of the massive space, which will not only serve as a popular gathering spot for guests but also provide easy and convenient access to the Carnival Breeze’s many dining, activity and entertainment venues. Giant Humpback Whales Greet Visitors to Grand Turk Cruise Center

Visitors to the Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC) are greeted by a whale of a sculpture – a pair of humpback whales that is, which are perched at the shoreline of the facility’s 800-foot-long private beach. Created by California-based Storyland Studios, the massive 12-foot-high by 38-foot-long sculpture depicts two whales “breaching” through the powdery white sand, providing a playful backdrop as guests relax on the beach or frolic in the soothing aquamarine waters.   Adjacent to the sculpture is signage that offers a variety of interesting whale facts, along with photos of these majestic and mysterious creatures. The sculpture is the latest addition to the facility which recently debuted a series of murals celebrating the historic 1962 splashdown of the Mercury…
