Carnival Glory Ship Overview

Posted on: January 17th, 2013 - Ship Overviews

The 110,000-ton Carnival Glory offers year-round Caribbean departures from Miami.  The ship has undergone an extensive refurbishment that added a variety of dining, bar and entertainment options that are part of the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement initiative which is being rolled out across the Carnival fleet.

The 110,000-ton Carnival Glory takes colors as its central design theme, with each public room celebrating a different shade of the rainbow. Highlights include the ship’s promenade, called Kaleidoscope Boulevard, which features one-square-meter polished aluminum light fixtures, subdivided into geometric modules that are backlit with stripes of red, blue and yellow LED lights, giving the effect of motion as the lights modulate between colors; Amber Palace, named after Russia’s famous Amber Room, is distinguished by fancy rococo moldings, gold leaf columns with female figures, candelabras, and “double eagle” image of Russian lore; Ivory Club, featuring an Indian theme set off with elephant tusk replicas, intricate wall coverings with spindles and ivory-like squares, windows inset with mosaics of faux semi-precious stones, and a wood-paneled ceiling with embossed brass beams.

Carnival Glory offers a wide variety of formal and casual venues, including the stunning Platinum and Golden formal dining rooms with extensive menus and wine lists; a casual poolside restaurant, Red Sail Restaurant, with full breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and a 24-hour pizzeria, along with a New York-style deli,  and a grille; and the Emerald Room, classic American steakhouse serving U.S.D.A. prime dry-aged beef, chops, seafood and other cuisine.   The Lido restaurant was recently renovated to include a new burger called Guy’s Burger Joint, developed in tandem with Food Network star Guy Fieri, and the new BlueIguana Cantina, featuring hand-made tacos and burritos and a variety of toppings and salsas. Dining room menus also include vegetarian dishes and children’s menus, as well as Spa Carnival Fare, delicious health-conscious menu items that are lower in fat, sodium, cholesterol and calories. The ship also features a patisserie and complimentary 24-hour room service and ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Carnival Glory’s recent Fun Ship 2.0 upgrade also included two exciting poolside watering holes – the Caribbean-flavored RedFrog Rum Bar and the Mexican-themed Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, along with the new cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar where expert mixologists create custom cocktails with unique ingredients and flavors.

‘CAMP CARNIVAL,’ ‘CIRCLE C,’ ‘CLUB O2’ – Building upon Carnival’s distinction as the family cruise leader carrying 700,000 children annually fleetwide, Carnival Glory offers organized programs for three different age groups – Camp Carnival for 2- to 11-year-olds, Circle “C” for 12- to 14-year-olds, and Club O2 for 15- to 17-year-olds – with supervised activities and expansive, modern facilities for each.  Carnival Glory also houses four swimming pools, including a children’s wading pool and an aft pool offering a 214-foot-long water slide.

‘HEALTH AND FITNESS FACILITY’ – Fitness has become an important part of everyday life and guests sailing on the Carnival Glory can take advantage of the ship’s 14,500-square-foot “Spa Carnival” facility, which features exercise equipment, a gymnasium, and body and facial treatments, including a number of exotic “European-style” therapies. The ship also features a salon offering a variety of hair, nail and make-up services.

ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS — A number of exciting entertainment options were added as part of the Fun Ship 2.0 upgrade, including Hasbro, The Game Show, with larger than life adaptations of the brand’s iconic board games; Playlist Productions, captivating production shows featuring a combination of high-tech LED screen and live performances; and the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez who serves as the line’s curator of comedy and is enhancing the line’s fleetwide comedy clubs.

CARNIVAL’S SEASIDE THEATRE– Carnival Glory also features the line’s popular “Carnival Seaside Theatre,” a massive 270-square-foot LED screen on Lido Deck displaying movies, concerts, sporting events, and other programming, including a “Morning Show” hosted by the ship’s cruise director.  Utilizing the same technology featured in large stadiums and New York’s Times Square, the state-of-the-art entertainment system includes a 70,000-watt sound system, providing concert quality sound, even outdoors.

SPACIOUS ACCOMODATIONS– Eighteen staterooms on the Carnival Glory that previously featured floor-to-ceiling windows have been retrofitted with private balconies, creating expansive 230-square-foot verandah staterooms.  Including these accommodations, Carnival Glory has 573 total balcony staterooms – ideal for scenic Caribbean cruising. As part of Carnival’s fleetwide stateroom amenities, all of the Carnival Glory’s staterooms feature the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system, featuring plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and duvet covers, fluffy pillows and high quality sheets and linens. All accommodations include terrycloth bathrobes and all staterooms offer in-cabin amenity kits with a variety of brand-name product samples for men and women.

INTERNET CAFÉ, WI-FI ACCESS, CELL PHONE SERVICE – Like all “Fun Ships,” Carnival Glory offers an Internet café with private workstations featuring flat-screen monitors, along with Wi-Fi access available in virtually all public rooms and areas.  Guests can also make and receive cell phone calls whether the ship is at sea or in port.
