Carnival Victory Earns Perfect 100 U.S.P.H. Inspection Score

Carnival Victory scored 100 during its most recent United States Public Health (U.S.P.H.) in Miami, marking the fourth time that a Carnival Cruise Lines ship has earned a perfect score this year. To earn a 100 score, cruise ships must receive perfect marks on all 42 items that comprise the U.S.P.H.’s comprehensive Vessel Sanitation Program checklist. The unannounced inspections, which are conducted twice a year and required for any cruise ship with an international itinerary calling at a U.S. port, evaluate vessels in a wide variety of areas, including adherence to proper food handling, preparation and storage procedures, and overall galley cleanliness. With reference to media reports of an alleged “salute” made yesterday by the cruise ship Carnival Sunshine in Venice, Carnival reiterates that those accusations are unfounded.  The passage through the Venice Lagoon occurred in full compliance with navigational regulations and well within the accepted parameters for distance from shore. The Carnival Sunshine passed more than 70 meters from Riva dei Sette Martiri on the planned route. The distance from shore has been confirmed by the Coast Guard, the local pilot association and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Carnival recently launched a new “Share Your Memories” Facebook tab where guests are invited to share their most memorable photos and videos shot during their Carnival cruise vacations for possible inclusion in the cruise line’s new advertising campaign which will launch in September. Whether it’s a photo of the family enjoying mouth-watering burgers from Guy’s Burger Joint or video of dad’s first zip lining experience, Carnival wants Facebook fans to share their pictures and videos, some of which may be chosen for inclusion in the company’s new ad campaign. Guests can upload up to four images at a time from their computers. Images must be in JPEG, GIF or TIFF format and cannot exceed more than 2MB in size, while…

New 135,000-Ton ‘Fun Ship’ Set To Debut In 2016 To Be Named Carnival Vista

Carnival Vista is the name selected by Carnival Cruise Lines for its new 135,000-ton ship scheduled to enter service in 2016. The announcement was made today by Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill during a media briefing aboard Carnival Sunshine which is in the midst of its inaugural European season. To be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the 4,000-passenger Carnival Vista will be the 25th vessel in the line’s “Fun Ship” fleet. Carnival Vista will offer a wide variety of dining, bar and entertainment options that are part of the line’s groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative, along with a number of innovations unique to this vessel. Carnival should remove 40-second delay in automatic activation of the Hi-Fog system As a result of our internal investigation, in March 2011 Carnival removed the Hi-Fog system delay on all ships.  (Prior to the Carnival Splendor fire, this system delay, which was designed by the manufacturer and inspected by external and internal auditors, was common and accepted practice.  The delay was originally designed to avoid false positive signals.) 2.
