To commemorate Carnival Cruise Lines’ one-year anniversary of being named the Official Celebration Partner of its primary charitable partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the cruise line held its first-ever Groove for St. Jude at the Memphis, Tenn., hospital.
Modeled after the popular shipboard fundraising dance activity, the shoreside version of Groove for St. Jude provided kids and their parents the opportunity to get their groove on as they danced with team members from Carnival. The event – held appropriately enough on National Dance Day – was a huge success with everyone hitting the dance floor for an afternoon of fun.
In its role as St. Jude’s Official Celebration Partner, Carnival provides entertainment at the annual St. Jude Teen Formal, holds an annual Day of Play at the hospital with music, food, dancing, and giveaways, and celebrates birthdays with a special gift from Carnival that complements traditional birthday festivities.
Carnival also hosts a number of fun shipboard fundraising activities as part of the company’s commitment to raise $8 million for St. Jude’s lifesaving research and treatment programs.
