Carnival Cruise Lines Wins 10 Awards In Inaugural ‘Bon Voyage Awards’

Carnival Cruise Lines has earned 10 gold, silver and bronze awards in the inaugural Bon Voyage awards, sponsored by Bon Voyage Magazine presented by cruiseline.com.  The awards were presented in a variety of product- and service-related categories and voted on by a five-member panel of judges who included Bon Voyage Editor-in-Chief Sherri Eisenberg and esteemed cruise industry journalists Heidi Sarna, Lisa Cheng, Donna Heiderstadt and Ted Scull.  Cruise lines were recognized with gold, silver and bronze awards in the various categories. Air Force Staff Sergeant Kelly Parker, currently stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, recently enjoyed a free four-day Bahamas cruise with his wife and son aboard the Carnival Sensation, as part of USO (United Service Organizations) Europe’s “Summer Family Getaway” promotion sponsored by Carnival. The Parker family also enjoyed a pre-cruise vacation in the Orlando area. The winning couple’s entry was randomly selected at a drawing held at the AFN (American Forces Network) studio in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Carnival Cruise Lines and Dallas Cowboys Announce Multi-Year Partnership

Carnival Cruise Lines, Texas’ largest cruise operator, today announced an exclusive, multi-year partnership with the Dallas Cowboys, making Carnival the Official Cruise Line of the legendary NFL franchise and expanding the cruise operator’s already wide-ranging commitment to the Texas market. Following strong consumer response to Carnival Triumph’s first-ever longer length voyages from Galveston and San Juan, the cruise line has added three new 10- to 12-day cruises departing in winter 2015 and visiting beautiful and exotic destinations throughout the Caribbean and Central and South America.   YouGov’s BrandIndex has ranked Carnival Cruise Lines the most-improved U.S. brand in consumer perception, or “buzz,” in its mid-year 2014 Buzz Rankings Report. Throughout the second half of 2013 and thus far in 2014, Carnival has initiated a number of new programs that have resonated positively in the marketplace. Carnival’s new instructional video series continues on YouTube with step-by-step instructions for recreating the delicious hand-made tortillas featured at the BlueIguana Cantina, a popular poolside Mexican-themed eatery featured on several of the line’s ships. Carnival’s Director of Product Development Greg Poplewko and Chef Sikman provide viewers with easy-to-follow instructions for making fresh-from-the-grill homemade tortillas which can then be filled with chicken, beef, or fish to replicate the tasty offerings available at the BlueIguana Cantina. Poplewko notes that more than 1,000 tortillas are freshly made each day by chefs at the BlueIguana Cantina (who have a distinct advantage over home chefs as they can use the cruise industry’s only tortilla-making machine!). Through a variety of innovative fundraising activities, Carnival Cruise Lines has raised more than $5 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for the hospital’s many lifesaving pediatric cancer research and treatment programs. In addition to its Care to Play: Carnival for St. Jude Kids shipboard fundraising campaign, the cruise line also serves as the Official Celebration Partner for St. Jude, supporting birthday parties, proms and other celebratory events at the Memphis, Tennessee, hospital. Capitalizing on the growing popularity of craft beer in the U.S., Carnival Cruise Lines has entered into an exclusive agreement to offer Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing’s craft beers on all of its Florida-based ships. Cigar City’s Florida Cracker Belgian-Style White Ale and Invasion Pale Ale will be available on 13 Carnival ships sailing from five Florida ports beginning this week.  Combined, those ships carry more than two million guests each year. John Heald, Carnival Cruise Lines’ senior cruise director and brand ambassador, was named Best Cruise Blogger in USA Today’s inaugural Readers’ Choice New Media Awards.  The awards are based on on-line surveys that asked readers to vote for their favorite cruise blogger.  Heald received more votes than any other nominee. Launched in March 2007, Heald’s blog (www.johnhealdsblog.com) offers a “peek behind the crew door” with engaging and entertaining stories about the people he comes in contact with every day.  Heald also answers reader questions covering a wide variety of topics.  There’s also the annual Bloggers Cruise that attracts upwards of 1,000 of his readers who enjoy a number of exclusive on-board activities and events, all hosted by Heald.   In Carnival’s inaugural how-to video that debuted last week, Food Network personality Guy Fieri showed viewers how to make a tasty Texas-style burger from Guy’s Burger Joint restaurants which are featured on several ships. In the second installation in the series, Carnival’s Director of Product Development Greg Poplewko lets viewers in on the secret to making the famous pulled pork sandwich at Fat Jimmy’s BBQ, a complimentary open-air dining venue. Assisted by Chef Agnelo D Souza, Poplewko demonstrates step-by-step instructions for re-creating the tasty sandwich, from seasoning and slow-cooking the pork shoulder to preparing the bread and toppings, and plating the dish.  Poplewko reminds viewers to bring plenty of napkins because “you’re going to need them.” Future how-to videos…
