  In a time-honored maritime tradition, a ceremony was held earlier today aboard Carnival Vista at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, during which a commemorative coin was welded to the ship’s mast to mark a significant construction milestone. The 133,500-ton Carnival Vista – the line’s newest, largest and most innovative ship – is set to debut in Europe May 1, 2016. The coin ceremony – which dates back to the ancient Romans who believed that attaching coins to a ship provided divine protection – signifies the successful completion of Carnival Vista’s exterior outfitting. It is a longstanding tradition to select a godmother – or “madrina” – to preside over the ceremony. In this case, however, Carnival selected a “godchild”…

Antoinette Murray, a 14-year veteran of Carnival Cruise Line, has been named the company’s Volunteer of the Year, which acknowledges outstanding dedication and commitment to community service. Murray was recognized for her role in Carnival’s employee service group, the “Friends Uniting Neighbors (F.U.N.) Team,” donating her time to a variety of organizations, particularly Camillus House, a homeless assistance center in downtown Miami.  In addition to presenting Murray with a plaque adorned with the company’s signature winged funnel, Carnival is making a $1,000 donation to the charity of her choice. The award was presented at Carnival’s annually Volunteer Reception which pays tribute to those employees who volunteer their time and talent in helping those less fortunate in the South Florida community. …

  Carnival Cruise Line is taking a fun and engaging approach to showcase the construction of its newest “Fun Ship,” Carnival Vista, creating a series of monthly behind-the-scenes videos shot at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, where the 3,954-passenger vessel is being built. Host Peter Gonzalez – who has traveled to 30 countries to create videos showcasing the “Fun Ship” fleet – takes viewers on his 5,132-mile journey from Miami to Monfalcone, Italy, to document Carnival Vista’s 26-month construction. In the first video, “Birds’ Eye View,” Gonzalez dons a hard hat and ventures high above the Fincantieri shipyard to demonstrate the incredible size of Carnival Vista while highlighting the painstaking process for cutting and assembling the 150,000 tons of steel…

  Carnival is hosting a fun social media promotion designed to help select a new ice cream flavor served at the Cherry On Top confection store aboard Carnival Vista while benefiting the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the line’s primary charitable partner. The promotion runs through Friday, June 19, and asks the line’s Facebook fans to “like” their favorite selection among six delicious Carnival-themed choices – Banana Fudge Funnel, Berries Ahoy, Brownie Buoy, Captain Fudge, Co-Co Caribbean and Tropical Sunset Sundae. Samples of the top three vote-getters will then be delivered to the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., as part of a special ice cream party on July 8 during which the children…

Carnival Cruise Line today announced deployment changes designed to enhance its leadership position in two key homeports – Galveston and  Port Canaveral, Fla.,  – while providing exciting “Fun Ship” itinerary choices in time for next summer’s cruise season. Carnival Breeze will reposition to Galveston in May 2016 and Carnival Magic to Port Canaveral in April 2016, several months earlier than previously announced.  Carnival Breeze will assume Carnival Magic’s year-round schedule of seven-day Galveston cruises beginning May 8, 2016. Carnival Magic will take over Carnival Valor’s current seven-day Port Canaveral cruise program April 23, 2016.   Carnival Cruise Line, Texas’ number one cruise operator, and the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, hosted a special day of fun, food and baseball this weekend at Dr Pepper Ballpark for 500 children and their families from across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
