  October is Plan a Cruise Month, and to celebrate, Carnival Cruise Line is teaming up with the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) on the #CruiseSmile Sweepstakes for the chance to win cruises aboard Carnival Breeze from Galveston, Texas, and Carnival Valor from Port Canaveral, Fla.   Just in time for football season, Carnival Cruise Line – the Official Cruise Line of the Houston Texans – has rolled out a variety of fun Play 60 at Sea football-themed activities on its three Texas-based ships, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Freedom. The program is designed to encourage kids to stay active for 60 minutes a day even while on vacation, whether it’s running along the jogging track, sliding down the water slide, working out in the gym or playing a round of mini-golf.  On the final sea day, activities modeled after Houston Texans practice drills are offered on board.  Activities include a ladder drill, cone drill, field goal kick and passing exercises.   To celebrate The Cat in the Hat’s recently announced presidential campaign, Carnival Cruise Line – the exclusive cruise line partner of Dr. Seuss Enterprises and the Official Seagoing Campaign Headquarters for the world’s favorite feline – teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to host a rally for kids at the Memphis, Tennessee, hospital. The award is based on a poll of more than 5,000 Americans nationwide who were asked to rate products they trust across 40 different categories in areas such as quality, value, and reliability.  Carnival received more votes than any other cruise line.  The awards are featured in the October issue of Reader’s Digest.     Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the country’s most popular daytime talk show, on a year-long celebration that will include fun in-studio audience competitions, online contests, exclusive digital content and more. The celebration officially kicked off with a fun Carnival-inspired game with several members of the audience each of whom won a cruise.  Later Ellen announced a new  “Watch and Win” game for fans at home in which viewers who remember a key word or phrase from previous shows can win a Carnival cruise.   The announcement can be viewed here. Carnival Shipboard and Shoreside Employees Participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day

  Hundreds of Carnival Cruise Line employees, both on board and ashore, did their part to help our environment by participating in the annual International Coastal Cleanup Day, the world’s largest single day cleanup event spearheaded by the Ocean Conservancy. From Florida and the Caribbean to Central America and Europe, Carnival employees pitched in to clear debris and collect refuse at a variety of seaside destinations, underscoring the cruise line’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection and preservation. International Coastal Cleanup Day is just one of several environmentally conscious projects coordinated by Carnival and its employees each year.

With The Cat in the Hat running for president, who better to serve as campaign manager for the world’s most popular feline than The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s self-proclaimed presidential expert, Macey Hensley!   Talk about a unique first call celebration!   To mark Carnival Sunshine’s inaugural call at Portland, Maine, a first-call reception was held that included a traditional maritime plaque exchange between the ship’s officers and port officials. Appropriately enough, port officials also presented several lobsters which were expertly prepared for the team that evening as part of a special dinner. Carnival Sunshine visited Portland as part of a seven-day fall foliage cruise that departed New York on Sept. 10, part of the ship’s summer schedule of four- to eight-day voyages to Canada, New England and Caribbean ports. The 3,006-passenger Carnival Sunshine will sail from New York through October then reposition to Port Canaveral, Fla., for a winter schedule of Caribbean departures…
