Carnival Cruise Line Names Richard Pruitt Vice President, Environmental Operations

  Richard Pruitt, a highly respected and seasoned cruise industry professional, has been named vice president, environmental operations at Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line effective November 20, 2017. He will report to Mark Jackson, senior vice president, technical operations, for Carnival Cruise Line. As vice president of environmental operations, Pruitt will be focused on further strengthening and expanding the company’s shipboard and shoreside environmental programs and practices. “Rich is extremely well respected in the industry and we’re thrilled to gain his exceptional knowledge, expertise and leadership,” said Jackson. “We look forward to tapping into his experience to ensure we maintain the highest level of operational standards.” Previously Pruitt was at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. for 13 years, serving in a variety…

Carnival Corporation Raises Record $338,500 for American Cancer Society

  Carnival Foundation, the charitable arm of Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world’s largest leisure travel company, held its second Relay For Life fundraiser Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, for American Cancer Society. The event surpassed Carnival Foundation’s goal and raised more than $338,500 through individual employee fundraising and a donation from the foundation. Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine donated an additional $100,000 to the campaign through the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation.   Carnival Cruise Line announced today that the massive LED “Dreamscape” atrium sculpture on the new Carnival Horizon will feature colorful, custom-designed artwork created by patients of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® when the 133,500-ton ship debuts in Europe in spring 2018. The eye-catching, three-deck high centerpiece in Carnival Horizon’s atrium will feature 33 different artistic creations from patients of St. Jude, one of Carnival’s largest charitable partners.   Carnival Cruise Line hosted a Build-A-Bear Workshop event that provided more than 100 kids from Brevard, Fla.-area Boys & Girls Clubs with a day of fun aboard the Carnival Magic in Port Canaveral, Fla. Coinciding with Build-A-Bear’s 20th Birthday, the event offered kids a chance to make their own cuddly bears that could be customized with a colorful Carnival T-shirt and other accessories. Each bear came with its own “birth certificate” and a special logoed drawstring bag for safe keeping.  Kids also enjoyed delicious bear-themed sweets and a pizza party along with tours of the massive 130,000-ton Carnival Magic. Caribbean Itineraries Update

Carnival Cruise Line has finalized its schedule of future calls to the few remaining ports that have not yet been added back to our itineraries following the recent hurricanes. Grand Turk – Visits to Grand Turk will resume November 1 beginning with Carnival Ecstasy San Juan – Visits to San Juan will resume November 30 beginning with Carnival Conquest St. Thomas – Visits to St. Thomas will resume January 9 beginning with Carnival Glory St. Maarten – Visits to St. Maarten will resume January 15 beginning with Carnival Sunshine Homeport operations from San Juan  – Carnival Fascination will resume its year-round weekly departures from San Juan on February 18, 2018 following the ship’s charter to FEMA to house relief workers…

  Carnival Cruise Line has produced an epic global celebration for Australia’s fifth birthday, creating the world’s longest conga line at sea for the first ever World Conga Day™. Australia is Carnival Cruise Line’s first international home-port outside of the U.S, with Carnival Spirit sailing year-round and Carnival Legend sailing seasonally.  In 2020, the brand will have two ships sailing year-round from Australia.   Three kids from the Texas 4H Club were awarded free cruises during an event at the State Fair of Texas hosted by Guy Fieri announcing his new Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse|Brewhouse restaurant that will be featured aboard the new Carnival Horizon when it debuts next spring. The three finalists – Harper Burt, Sam Penn and Charlotte Murray – were tasked to come up with unique barbecue recipes inspired by Pig & Anchor that were judged by a panel of barbecue experts.  Harper was named the winner with Sam and Charlotte the runners up.  All three children received a free Carnival cruise departing from the Port of Galveston for their highly creative and imaginative entries. Statement Regarding Carnival Fascination

In response to a request for proposal from the U.S government, Carnival Cruise Line finalized an agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on October 11 for a four-month charter of the cruise ship Carnival Fascination. Per FEMA’s request, the ship will be docked in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and will provide housing and meals for relief workers. The duration of the charter is from October 15, 2017 to February 3, 2018. As a result, Carnival has cancelled cruises that were scheduled to operate on Carnival Fascination which is normally homeported in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Guests on cancelled voyages will receive a full refund along with a future cruise discount for the disruption in their vacation plans.…
