Carnival Cruise Line’s Sales and Trade Marketing Team Takes Home Four Gold and Silver Travel Weekly Magellan Awards

Carnival Cruise Line’s Sales and Trade Marketing team received two gold and two silver 2018 Magellan Awards in Travel Weekly’s annual competition. All four awards were bestowed in the Cruise Marketing–Web Marketing/Advertising Category.

Carnival’s Facebook page for travel agents received a gold award for its effectiveness as a trade communications platform. The page is run by Adolfo Perez, senior vice president of sales and trade relations, and currently has more than 37,000 followers and over 36,000 likes. The other gold Magellan was earned for the innovative “What’s Your Carnival IQ?” Facebook contest that tested travel agents’ knowledge about the Carnival brand and onboard product.

The redesign of Carnival’s travel trade portal, GoCCL.com, into a more mobile-responsive and exclusive business-to-business tool for agents received a silver Magellan. The “Amp Up Commissions Challenge” that enabled agents to earn up to 15 percent commissions on bookings made during the January-to-March 2018 “Wave Season” also won a silver award.

“Our team works hard to come up with creative ways to engage, educate and inspire our travel partners, and to be recognized by this panel of industry experts tells us we’re doing something right that resonates with our agents,” said Perez. “Bringing home gold and silver Magellan Awards is the travel industry’s highest recognition of our efforts and the effectiveness of our agent programs, and I’m proud of our team.”

Travel Weekly is considered the most influential provider of news, research, opinion and analysis to the North American travel trade marketplace. The Travel Weekly Magellan Awards are judged by a panel of top travel professionals in broad design, marketing and service categories, and honor the best in travel and salute outstanding travel professionals. In determining winners, entries do not compete with one another, but are judged against a standard of excellence based on the long experience of Travel Weekly.
