Carnival Cruise Line earned three Porthole Cruise Magazine Readers Choice Awards, earning top honors in the Best Value for the Money, Cruise Director and Computer Facilities categories.
Award winners were determined by thousands of readers of Porthole Cruise Magazine, who voted for their favorites in 51 categories. Winners are published in the November/December 2018 issue, which hit newsstands this week and is available online at Porthole.com.
“Porthole Cruise Magazine is a respected publication with an audience of true cruise aficionados who know the cruise business and are discerning in their tastes,” said Adolfo Perez, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and trade marketing. “Winning in three categories is a testament to how our shipboard staff exceed guests expectations every day.”
Matt Mitcham, who was named Best Cruise Director by the readers of Porthole, also was selected by Carnival as its 2018 Cruise Director of the Year. A Carnival veteran, Mitcham has served as cruise director on both Carnival Vista and the line’s newest ship, Carnival Horizon, and is one of the most popular cruise directors in the line’s 26-ship fleet. He is beloved by guests for his energy, humor, charisma and engaging personality.
Carnival has earned its well-deserved reputation as a leader in delivering the best value at sea, with most meals, shipboard activities and entertainment included in the cruise fare. In addition to the fun-filled ambiance onboard, the ships feature a variety of included amenities. On all Carnival ships, meals in the main dining rooms, Lido Marketplace and 24-hour pizza are complimentary. On many ships, complimentary alternative dining options include Guy’s Burger Joint, developed by Food Network star and longtime partner Guy Fieri, the Mexican-inspired BlueIguana Cantina and the recently announced Big Chicken, created by the line’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal and debuting on Carnival Radiance in 2020. Included entertainment options range from full production shows to comedy clubs with top-tier performers to larger-than-life Hasbro family games, while on-deck activities like a ropes courses, the exhilarating SkyRide suspended bike course and the fleetwide Serenity adults-only retreats also are free.
And while some cruise companies no longer provide computer facilities for guests, Carnival maintains public computers that are available at no charge. For guests who prefer a desktop environment, Carnival’s internet cafes provide a convenient way to access all the content available through the Carnival.com website for free. Complementing the line’s computer facilities is the top-rated Hub App where guests can get a day-by-day schedule of shipboard activities, make specialty dinner and shore excursion reservations and more. Along with the added HubApp benefits, Carnival is investing in an enhanced Wi-Fi infrastructure to bring more robust service across the Carnival fleet by 2021.
Porthole Cruise Magazine is available on newsstands or by print and digital subscription. Published bimonthly, the magazine features topics ranging from ship reviews and cruise destinations to life on board and activities on shore.
