Carnival Elation Captain and Crew Recognized with AFRAS Humanitarian Assistance Award

Captain Gaetano Gigliotti and the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Elation have been recognized with the Cruise Line Humanitarian Assistance Award from the Association for Rescue at Sea (AFRAS), an organization whose mission is to provide worldwide support and assistance to volunteer maritime rescue services and recognize and honor extraordinary maritime rescues. Presented during AFRAS’ annual reception in Washington, DC, the award honors Captain Gigliotti and his team for their incredible bravery in the rescue of a stranded fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Irma last year.   In addition to the AFRAS Award, Captain Gigliotti was presented with a framed copy of the entry into the Congressional Record by Florida Congresswoman Federica Wilson commending the life-saving…

    Carnival Cruise Line – which carries more active and retired military personnel than any other cruise operator – last night partnered with Operation Homefront to honor the brave men and women of the Armed Forces to host “Humor for Heroes” at Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego featuring stand-up comedy performances, BBQ, fun activities and more. Carnival Cruise Line today announced that it will return to the Port of San Diego for the first time in seven years when Carnival Miracle arrives in late 2019. Carnival Miracle will operate a winter schedule of three- to 15-day voyages from San Diego from December 2019 to February 2020.  The schedule kicks off with a seven-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera departing Dec. 1, 2019, and also includes two longer-length Carnival Journeys voyages – 14- and 15-day Hawaii adventures visiting popular destinations throughout the Aloha State departing Dec. 8, 2019 and Jan. 17, 2020, respectively. Carnival Elation Wins TravelAge West WAVE Award for Best Refurbished Ship

Carnival Elation came home a big winner on June 15 for Best Refurbished Ship (ocean-going) at the TravelAgeWest WAVE Awards. The ship underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in October 2017 that included the addition of 38 new staterooms, 98 balconies to existing staterooms, and a variety of popular and exciting food and beverage concepts. The ship now features: Guy’s Burger Joint: a free-of-charge poolside venue developed in partnership with Food Network personality Guy Fieri serving hand-crafted burgers and fresh-cut fries enjoyed amidst a décor that celebrates the chef’s California roots and love of car culture.   This week, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy will have the privilege of enjoying a unique experience only a small number of business executives and community leaders get each year.  She has been invited to participate in the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC), the oldest and most prestigious public liaison program in the U.S. Department of Defense. Its mission is to increase public understanding of national defense by enabling American business and community leaders to directly observe and engage with the U.S. military.
