Following a first-of-its-kind procedure in which Carnival Vista was loaded onto the Boka Vanguard, a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel operated by Netherlands-based Boskalis, the cruise ship arrived at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport this evening to begin repairs of its azipod propulsion system. The process began last night with Carnival Vista and Boka Vanguard rendezvousing off the coast of Freeport and took approximately 24 hours to complete. Carnival Vista will stay positioned within the “floating dry dock” at the Grand Bahama Shipyard while repairs are being made.  After being offloaded from the Boka Vanguard, Carnival Vista will depart Freeport later this month and resume its year-round Caribbean schedule from Galveston on July 27.

Carnival Cruise Line has launched “GoCCL Navigator,” a redesigned and renamed cruise booking tool for travel advisors. The result of a year of research and design, the release of Phase 1 today represents the first major overhaul of Carnival’s booking engine in a decade. The totally transformed Carnival Sunrise is the first in the fleet to feature the new casual and authentic Asian venue Lucky Bowl. Located within the ship’s Lido Marketplace, the free-of-charge restaurant is part of its extensive $200 million renovation that added a variety of the line’s popular food, beverage and entertainment innovations. The new concept replaced the former Asian Mongolian wok station, expanding the offerings to include dishes from China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, and other Far East cuisines. Carnival Cruise Line and the Port of Baltimore celebrated a historic milestone with a “Decade of Fun” celebration aboard Carnival Pride to mark the 10-year anniversary of Carnival’s year-round cruising from the port. Carnival Cruise Line and Thrillist have teamed up to launch “Island Hoppers,” a first-of-its-kind comedy competition show at sea, aiming to find the cruise line’s next comedy star to perform at its shipboard Punchliner Comedy Clubs. The mobile-first series is hosted by award-winning actor James Van Der Beek and was filmed during a recent Caribbean cruise aboard Carnival Horizon.
