Bettina Deynes, a SHRM Senior Certified Professional and a HRCI certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, joined Carnival Cruise Line as chief human resources officer in 2019.

Her career in management and the human resources field consists of over 20 of progressively more responsible executive positions in a widely diverse selection of demanding industries.

Most recently, Bettina was Chief Human Resources and Diversity Officer with the Society for Human Resource Management. As a member of the SHRM senior executive team, she directly influenced the decision-making process for business management, finance, marketing and customer service challenges. Before SHRM, she worked for the City of Alexandria, Va., as the Chief Human Resources officer.

Bettina’s 20-year career also includes serving as the chief human resources executive for the Washington Nationals Baseball Club and the National Association of Social Workers, among others. In May 2013, she published her first novel, Alejandra’s Quest, and she is currently working on her second entitled Crash Boat.

Bettina has been and continues to be cited by various media outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, CEO Update, Bloomberg BNA, KMBC – TV, Chicago Tribune, Diversity Women Magazine, HR Magazine, Hiring America, Forbes, USA Today, NBC News, PBS, and others. She has been an active member of the United States delegation to ISO/TC 260 ISO HR Management as a contributor and voting member for the development of international HR Standards. Her travels for appearances and speaking engagements have taken her throughout North America, as well as to Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and the Asia Pacific.

Bettina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix (2004), a Master’s in International Management (2013) and a Master’s in Business Administration (2012), both from the University of Maryland University College. She is multilingual and is fully capable as a translator/interpreter of Spanish and English. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and has served as the Northern Region Representative to the International Public Management Association for Human Resources-VA Board of Directors. Bettina also served as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of AvDyne AeroServices, LLC, a provider of numerous maintenance and logistics services to major airlines at The Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport, Dulles International Airport, and Ronald Reagan National Airport.
