Carnival Cruise Line Takes Delivery of New 133,500-Ton Carnival Vista

At a traditional maritime handover ceremony held earlier today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, Carnival Cruise Line took delivery of its newest, largest and most innovative ship, the 133,500-ton Carnival Vista. The 3,954-passenger ship will reposition to Trieste, Italy, where it will depart on its maiden voyage May 1, kicking off a summer schedule in Europe that runs through October 2016.  Following a 13-day trans-Atlantic crossing, Carnival Vista will operate a pair of 11-day cruises from New York in November 2016 then launch year-round Caribbean service from Miami later that month.   The latest in the Behind the Scenes: Carnival Vista video series goes to new heights – literally – focusing on a groundbreaking aerial attraction called SkyRide, which will make its seagoing debut when the massive 133,500-ton ship enters service in May. Host Peter Gonzalez takes viewers on a virtual tour of the first-of-a-kind shipboard activity in which adventure seekers pedal hanging recumbent-like cycles at speeds of up to 25 miles an hour across an elevated 800-foot-long track, all while enjoying panoramic views of the sea.   In the latest edition of Behind the Scenes: Carnival Vista, Host Peter Gonzalez goes below deck to show viewers the many technical and operational innovations that are being incorporated into the massive “floating resort,” which is currently under construction at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard and set to debut from Europe in May 2016.   John Heald’s “Whatever We’re Gonna Call These” video series continues with Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald, the latest company executive to be interviewed by the popular brand ambassador. During the interview Heald asks Arnold his thoughts on the new Carnival Vista and even challenges the CEO to a race aboard the ship’s SkyRide, a groundbreaking aerial attraction that will consist of hanging recumbent-like bicycles encircling an elevated 800-foot-long track.   In episode five in the Behind the Scenes: Carnival Vista video series, host Peter Gonzalez takes viewers on a tour of the ship’s IMAX Theater – the first ever on a cruise ship – as well as the innovative accommodations that will be featured aboard the new 130,000-ton vessel which is currently being constructed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
