Carnival Cruise Line’s second $1M Slot Tournament returned to sea with 1,691 guests competing this week aboard Carnival Celebration, overtaking last year’s event as the largest-ever casino competition in the cruise line’s history. The top 100 players in the competition earned prizes and on Thursday night, a grand prize of $500,000 was awarded to the tournament’s winner, along with a prize of $150,000 for second place and $50,000 for third.
“Carnival has a history as an industry leader with our casinos and our $1M Slot Tournament not only exemplifies that, but it celebrates it. Our onboard casinos bring fun and excitement to our Carnival Players Club members on all our ships, and this week has been a great way to bring many of those valued guests together and amplify the enthusiasm,” said Jonathan Lask, Carnival’s vice president of CRM and performance marketing.
Building on the momentum of another successful $1M Slot Tournament, Carnival is now planning to double the fun next year. Two additional million-dollar slot competitions will take place on two Carnival ships in 2024 – with the first on Carnival Jubilee, the fleet’s next new Excel-class ship, departing Galveston, Texas on May 18, 2024. The second competition for 2024 will take place on Mardi Gras, departing Port Canaveral on Nov. 2, 2024. Two tournaments will be announced for 2025 as well.
